“Magic Money Tree” by Joe Pugh @JoePewPew

I was hungover, so I thought I’d record a song I wrote.
This one’s about government misspending, fun times!

LYRICS:
I see the doctor, the hero we all need
But she lines up by the thousands ’cause she can’t afford to eat
They say that there’s no money to keep out medicine around
But very soon our hosptials will be a corporate playground

I see the policeman, shield of authority
He’s working overtime after a purge of redundancies
they say that there’s no money, but the truth here is this
Our wallets and our bank accounts are creating terrorists

Well you think a simple pay rise
Could save so many lives
But you’d rather spend on your wealthy friends
With your wallet full of lies
Here’s a final warning, now you didn’t hear this from me
But you’ve made your last bet on the magic money tree

I see the teacher, she’s worked off of her feet
Her class is full of children who are sleeping on the streets
They say that there’s no money when our kids are under threat
But we can raise the salaries of those in parliament

I see the refugees running for their lives
Their homes are up in flames and there is nowhere else to hide
They say that there’s no money to keep them in our land
But the shots came from your pockets and the blood is on your hands!

Well you think a simple pay rise
Could save so many lives
But you’d rather spend on your wealthy friends
With your wallet full of lies
Here’s a final warning, now you didn’t hear this from me
But you’ve made your last bet on the magic money tree

“We have no need for policies
We are the face of decency
We’re blowing up minorities
I thank the lord for the magic money tree

You will obey our monarchy
Your hopes are floating in the sea
You will all die in poverty
Just keep your dirty fingers off my magic money tree!”

Well you think a simple pay rise
Could save so many lives
But you’d rather spend on your wealthy friends
With your wallet full of lies
Here’s a final warning, now you didn’t hear this from me
But you’ve made your last bet on the magic money tree

Well you think a simple pay rise
Could save so many lives
But you’d rather spend on your wealthy friends
With your wallet full of lies
Here’s a final warning, now you didn’t hear this from me
But you’ve made your last bet on the magic money tree
We are taking over the magic money tree
Kiss good night, sing a lullaby for your fucking money tree
